Sunday School Opportunities - Part 1
What would it take for everybody at your church (Ebenezer included!) to attend Sunday School? Why does it not seem as important as other parts of worship? It is a great time for small groups and close detailed study. Not to mention, it allows you to ask questions, discuss problems, and minister to one another. Please share concerns and ideas for helping improve this vital ministry of our churches (or church Ebenezer!).

Sunday School. Huh! Well from my experience there are several things. Sunday is one day that most people have off and have got up early all week and do not want to get up early on that day.
Another thing is Sunday School is not entertaining enough. People want to feel good and worship does the trick sometime. But, sunday school is just not important enough.
Ideas I have had-being creative dealing with life issues. Life groups instead of sunday school. If they want meet sunday morning then what about during the week let's have a home study at someones house. The truth of the matter is Sunday School is just not important to people. So inventive and creative ways, are the only way to get them to study, that and loads of prayer...
Well, I think first of all you need an environment where you can feel a small group mentality, ask questions, and discuss. Sometimes, we make the mistake of saying it is a good time for that stuff, but forget to cultivate that atmosphere.
What we are trying now is an elective style. I give them a month to choose one of our 3 Adult Sunday Classes for the next quarter off the board. We try to create "Small group" at our new small groups on Sunday Night.
It is our 2nd quarter to try this, so I'll let you know in 9 months how it goes
I can't help but feel really sad that people feel that they have to be "entertained" into participation, or enticed or motivated by the luring of some special effects in order to get them to Sunday School or any other worship services..shame on us.. and that we're to tired to drag our sorry butts up out of bed on a Sunday after all God does for us is even more disgusting to think about...
I am really glad to say I go just because I truly love the LORD and if there is a chance that He might be there I sure don't want to miss HIM.....
